Inanna With Her Lion, Wings & Staff
Ancient Goddesses in 2026
Inanna, Queen of Heaven & Earth
Sunday, April 26th / 3-5 pm
Before the alphabet came out of Phoenicia, cuneiform writing was invented in ancient Sumer.
The oldest piece of writing attributed to an author followed shortly, In Exultation to Inanna, Queen of Heaven. Mother Mary holds this title now, but it first belonged to Inanna of Sumer. As did the story of descent into the underworld, a journey of death and resurrection. What drove Inanna to the Underworld? She went willingly. She was mad with grief from the slaying of the Sacred Bull. How did Inanna return from death? Who killed the Bull and why? Why did his death break her heart? Why was the Great Goddess forced into an arranged marriage? The first recorded arranged marriage of history with a man she did not love, and who, time would tell, did not love her. Explore these 5,000 year old mysteries at our next workshop.
We began this journey exploring Mary’s love technologies preserved in wisdom texts and traced her origins as the Queen of Heaven to Inanna of Sumer 5,500 years ago. This workshop will take a deep dive into Inanna, the first Goddess recorded in ancient literature. Through the gift of writing, her journey to the Underworld and back was recorded and preserved for us, like a spiritual set of instructions.
The day includes Xena’s Café for delicious hot & cold teas, baked goods, as well as a 20 minute Circus Yoga embodiment session. Always fun. Because play is a backdoor to discipline, and our minds will need a break. Think of it like the playground in the middle of the school day.
This is the third in a series of workshops geared for those wishing to ground personal spiritual exploration and practice with ancient archetypes, or nerds with a penchant for ancient history with a little Xena sprinkled in.
