Our Story

The Sanctuary is a 40-acre community land trust in East Haddam, CT, dedicated to interfaith spiritual practice, environmental stewardship, and community education. Our solar-powered site features beaver-created wetlands, community gardens, and forested paths, serving as a living classroom for sustainability.

Services

We operate volunteer-led programs, including youth initiatives and lead efforts to protect local ecosystems in the Lower Connecticut River Valley watershed.

We offer refuge for rescue animals, primarily goats who are active in our forest project eradicating bittersweet and other invasives.

Community

We’re honored to have our work serve the Lower Connecticut River Valley community and watershed.

We offer weekly meditation on Sundays, forest bathing, a 30 foot yurt for community events and day retreats, an outdoor stage, and open space to be under a blue sky.

What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. We’re proud of where we’ve been and even more excited for what’s ahead.

What sets us apart isn’t just our process—it’s the intention behind it. We take time to understand, explore, and create with purpose at every turn.
