Our Story
The Sanctuary is a 40-acre community land trust in East Haddam, CT, dedicated to interfaith spiritual practice, environmental stewardship, and community education. Our solar-powered site features beaver-created wetlands, community gardens, and forested paths, serving as a living classroom for sustainability.
Services
Our services include maintaining beaver wetlands, community gardens, walking paths, and programs like permaculture demonstrations, youth eco-education, animal rescue, and interfaith events.
We operate volunteer-led programs, including youth initiatives and lead efforts to protect local ecosystems in the Lower Connecticut River Valley watershed.
We offer refuge for rescue animals, primarily goats who are active in our forest project, eradicating bittersweet and other invasives.
Community
We serve local residents through accessibility to nature-placed programs, initiatives focused on sustainability, biodiversity, and watershed health in the Lower Connecticut River Valley.
We offer weekly meditation on Sundays, forest bathing, a 30 foot yurt for community events and day retreats, summer music concerts on our outdoor stage, immersive theater experiences, adult yoga, children’s circus and open space to be under a blue sky.
The Earth laughs in flowers.
